Doggles

            Inventor: Roni Di Lullo

            Invention:   Doggles are goggles for your dog.  The idea for this was to let your dog feel more human and have his/her own goggles.  Even though this is ridiculous, dog owners still paid money over $80 for one pair of doggles.

Pet Rock


        Inventor: Gary Dahl.  Gary was an advertising executive when he made the Pet Rock.  He thought of the idea as a joke, but actually made a lot of money with it.

        Invention: Pet Rocks was considered a "hassle-free pet" because it didn't have any needs that had to be met.  The "pet" was a rock placed on a small bundle of hay and set in a box.  

        Sell/Profit:  The Pet Rocks costed $3.95 each.  Gary could make the pet for only $.95.  

During it's first six months on the market, Pet Rocks had made over $15 million dollars in sells.

                                 Crazy Straws 

          Inventor: Arthur P. Gilversleeve.

          Invention:  The idea behind crazy straws was to make eating and drinking fun.  Most kids are very picking and finicky when it comes to eating.  So, Arthur came up with the idea to make crazy straws to grab kids attention and make them want to eat and drink.

           Popularity: Crazy straws are still popular today.  They are sold world wide even after decades from the invention.

Slinky 

            Inventor: Richard James.  Richard James was a naval engineer at the time of this invention.  He got the idea when he dropped a tension spring on the ground and watched it hop up and down.

            Invention: The slinky was invented in 1943.  Was invented on accident by Richard James.

            Sales: The first 400 slinkys were sold just before Christmas of 1945, and they sold out in no time.  In 2012, there were more then 250 million slinkys sold. 

               Snuggie 

              Invention: The Snuggie was invented because if it was cold and you had  a blanket on, you wouldn't have full access to your hands.  

              Sales:  The cost of a Snuggie ranges from $10 to $20 dollars.  Between the years of 2008 and 2009, Americans had purchased over 20 million Snuggies. 

             Places used: Snuggies for kids, and even pets, have heated up as gift items, and are most commonly found on airplanes or sporting events.

            Pillow Pets 

            Inventor: Jennifer Talfer.  The idea came to Jennifer one night when her son was going to sleep.  He beat down his stuffed animals in order to sleep on them. 

             Sales/Profit: When her product of “Pillow Pets” first sold out, she realized she was onto something.  She sold the Pillow Pets through her company CJ Products.  The Pillow Pets made over $300 million in 2010.
